Drying Time for Auto Window Film
It typically takes 2-5 days for our film adhesive solution to evaporate and for the film to settle down onto the glass permanently. During this time, it’s normal for your windows to appear a little hazy, streaky, or bubbly. It will dissolve once fully dry.
Do not roll your windows down for a minimum of 24 hrs. Refrain from touching your windows at all from the inside at all during this time. It is also normal to see temporary residual water streaks on the exterior of your car as it dries out. If this occurs, simply rinse it off with plain water. Do not touch the inside of your windows during the drying process, not even to clean them- just leave them completely alone temporarily to allow proper adhesion. You can wash the exterior of your vehicle immediately. Also, newer vehicles have delicate sensors on the front windshield, which may trigger temporary false reads after your windshield tint install. This is due to the moisture on the glass, and self-corrects after 2-7 days. To speed up the curing process, leave your vehicle out in the sun.
How to Clean Tinted Car Windows
Our window films may be cleaned with mild, non-abrasive, cleaning solutions that are ammonia-free. Look for the “tint-safe” label on popular cleaning products before using.
Never use an ammonia-based cleaner such as Windex on your tinted windows. Only use soft, clean microfiber towels to clean your tinted windows. Do not use any sponges, brown/generic paper towels, or newspaper when cleaning your window film as they can cause scratches. Since tint is installed from the inside, you may wash your car immediately after the install. Do not clean the inside of your vehicle, particularly near your windows and door panels during the drying process as it could add debris to your film.
Quality Control & Imperfections
Your satisfaction is our number one priority, and we take every pre-caution within our control to ensure the cleanest possible install.
Despite all of these measures, due to the nature of window film, weather conditions, various glass imperfections, and other variables out of our control, we cannot completely prevent the possibility of dirt and airborne dust from creating minor imperfections on your installation. Pre-existing scratches, holes, or metal deposits in your glass may also be more noticeable after your windows are tinted. To reduce these imperfections, we highly recommend thoroughly cleaning your vehicle (inside and out) before your window film installation. This helps us provide the highest-quality installation possible. Alternatively, tint your car as soon as you buy it or straight after cleaning it. The newer the car, the fewer imperfections.
Please note that pre-existing silver streaks, also known as “metal rubs” may also become more apparent after your installation. These imperfections occur when metal objects like baby strollers and ladders touch your glass while driving. In addition, you may notice excess light reflecting off your defogger lines (usually found on the rear window). While intensity varies, it is unavoidable because the film is bending to fit around your defoggers.
Are Scratches, Dings, and Seat Belt Chips Covered By the Warranty?
No. Watch out for your seatbelt and other items in your car that could bump your windows and create dings or scratches. Make sure to be careful with your seatbelt buckle when releasing it. Your warranty covers bubbling, peeling, and de-lamination when proper aftercare is adhered to. This includes refraining from rolling your windows down for a minimum of 2-5 days post install. Customer damage, scratches, and metal rubs are not covered by your warranty.
Front Windshield Tinting; Full Disclosure
Tinting your front windshield can help to provide 99% UV protection, heat reduction, glare reduction, enhanced privacy, and other great benefits. However, it is impossible to guarantee a completely perfect, undetectable film install. This is due to several factors including the nature of airborne dust particles, glass type/age/thickness/curvature, and required heat shrinking and stretching of the film. Dust particles can sometimes appear as tiny or pinpoint bubble(s). While we do our best to minimize dust, eliminating it completely is impossible. While the majority of our customers are extremely satisfied, in some cases, these factors can result in visible changes, including but not limited to film visibility, distortion, waviness, dispersion, etc. Please note that after getting your front windshield tinted, it is normal to notice previously existing glass distortion and flaws in greater detail as the film can enhance those imperfections. Kaloko Tinting will not be liable for your selected film choice and shall be installed at your own risk. No refunds will be issued for any reason once work is completed and labor and products are used. You may also be subject to standard removal fees in the event of elected removal. All of our front windshield tinting options meet the legal tinting requirements for the State of Hawaii.
